In support of promoting inclusive and respectful communication in the workplace, the Records Management Office (RMO) participated in an orientation on Gender-Fair Language on May 20, 2025, at the RMO Chief Administrative Officer’s Meeting Room. The session was hosted by Ms. Joanne Rose Belle B. Ople-Vale, a dedicated advocate of gender sensitivity and equality in public service.
The orientation emphasized the importance of using non-sexist language in all forms of official communication, in line with Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 12, s. 2005, which mandates the use of gender-fair language across all government offices. Ms. Ople-Vale discussed the underlying principles of gender sensitivity, illustrated common biased expressions, and provided practical alternatives to promote inclusivity and equality.

Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, participants gained a deeper understanding of how language shapes perceptions and contributes to a more respectful and equitable work environment. The Records Management Office remains committed to integrating gender-fair practices in its day-to-day operations and encourages all staff to be conscious of the power of words in fostering a culture of inclusivity.
